Battle of the Bone Wing Eating Contest Rules and Regulations
Grand Prize: One grand prize will be awarded, a twenty four-month lease on a 2008 Honda Element from Right Honda.
Rules & Conditions:
- Eligibility: Contest is open to all U.S. residents 18 years or older. Employees, owners, or operators of Native New Yorker Franchising, Inc. and the members of their immediate families are not eligible to enter. Void where prohibited.
- To Enter: READ CAREFULLY THIS OFFICIAL CONTEST RULES FOR THE BATTLE OF THE BONE CHICKEN WING EATING CONTEST INCLUDING THE ELIGIBILIGY REQUIREMENTS AND WAIVER OF LIABILITY PROVISIONS. All entry forms become the property of Native New Yorker Franchising, Inc.
- Contest Rules: There will be one total competition weekly at a different participating Native New Yorker location starting on Wednesday, March 19th, 2008 and concluding on approximately August 27, 2008 for a total of twenty-three (23) qualifying competion events and one (1) single “Grand Prize Competition” event. The Contestants for the “Grand Prize Competition” shall be selected participants in the twenty-three (23) qualifying competition events. The Grand Prize Competition event will take place at the Native New Yorker at 1301 E. Broadway Road, Tempe, AZ 85282, on approximately Wednesday, August 27, 2008. Finalists will be selected by representatives of Native New Yorker Franchising, Inc.
- This contest is open to Amateur eaters only, and is not open to professional competitive eaters. This contest is meant to be a “novelty” type competition for loyal wing loving customers to promote wings in our community.
- Competitors can only enter the contest one time at one location.
- Time, date and place are subject to change without notice.
- Contestants must have a neat clean appearance for the event. Casual clothing or active wear is appropriate. However, Contestants must be fully clothed not exposing their upper torso and/or their lower torso more than three (3) inches above the knee. If a Contestant’s clothing is deemed inappropriate by the sponsor, the Contestant may, at the sole discretion of the sponsor, be disqualified and not allowed to participate in the contest.
- Contestants must be present and registered by 6:30pm. The competitions will begin at 7:00pm.
- Upon registration each participant will be assigned a contestant number and will be instructed to wait in a designated area. A contestant will forfeit his or her place should he or she fail to register at the Native New Yorker registration table.
- The object is to eat as many wings as possible within 10minutes and 60seconds.
- The 1st place winners and/or those eating the most wings at each qualifying competition may advance to the grand prize round.
- Contestants may eat either sitting or standing in their designated areas.
- The use of utensils is not allowed.
- Contestants will be allowed to drink water during the competition.
- The contest is over when the time limit expires.
- If a contestant throws up or regurgitates, he or she is automatically disqualified.
- Judges will be on hand to assure adherence to contest rules, monitor the “no throw up or regurgitating” rule, to weigh the total amount of meat that has been eaten off the wing, and to disqualify contestants who fail to adhere to the rules.
- Winners will be designated by the judges after time has expired.
- Final Authority-Native New Yorker Franchising Inc., On Air Sports Marketing, Roc and Manuch, Lunch with Kevin McCabe, Calling All Sports Saturday’s hosts, Native New Yorker Restaurants, Right Honda, Bud Light and/or KDUS AM 1060 THE FAN reserves the right to disqualify any entrant and have sole and complete discretion regarding all contest related matters. All decisions regarding qualifications, selection or disqualification of a contestant/s or winner/s shall be subject to the sole and complete discretion of Native New Yorker Franchising, Inc. You can be disqualified for any reason at any time.
- Grounds for disqualification include but not limited to:
- False or incomplete entry form or liability waiver
- Any health risks that could jeopardize the contestant’s health or wellbeing
- Under the influence of any substance.
- Appearance and/or clothing is deemed inappropriate
- Failure to register by 6:30pm on assigned night of contestant’s competition.
- Starting prior to the start signal
- Throwing up or regurgitating
- The Grand Prize winner must meet credit requirements as determined by Right Honda. If the Grand Prize winner does not or cannot meet Right Honda’s pre-arranged credit requirements, an alternative cash option of $7,500 (the cash equivalent of the lease) shall be substituted in place of the Right Honda lease giveaway.
- The Grand Prize winner of the 2008 Right Honda Element twenty four month lease will be awarded at the final round of the Battle of the Bone contest on or about August 27, 2008. Once the winner is determined, the winner shall have his or her photo taken with On Air Sports/Native New Yorker and Right Honda officials. The exclusive rights to and the use of the photograph(s) will be shared by On Air Sports/Native New Yorker and Right Honda
- The Grand Prize winner shall receive a twenty four-month lease on a 2008 Right Honda Element or its cash equivalent of $7500. The contest Winner is responsible for the cost of the titling, license plating and/or other fees associated with the vehicle at time delivery. Winner is responsible for insuring and maintaining vehicle for the term of the lease according to the contract between Winner and Right Honda and in compliance with lender guidelines. Subject to credit approval by finance source. Winner is responsible for any miles in excess of 24,000 total miles for term of lease @ $0.20 per excess mile. All terms and conditions of lease contract are binding and will remain unchanged. Winner must be 18 years of age or older on February 25, 2008, and have a valid driver’s license.
- Right Honda officials will schedule a date, time and place for Grand Prize winner to complete lease paperwork and take possession of the 2008 Right Honda Element.
- Prizes are non-transferable; no prize substitution or cash redemption allowed except as provided herein.
- Prize winner is responsible for any State and/or Federal tax obligations associated with winning the lease or its substituted value.
- Grand Prize Winner’s name will be made available at the conclusion of the promotion. Sponsors reserve the right to use the name and/or image of the winner in advertising or similar uses in connection with the promotion.
- Grand Prize winner must show valid ID to claim their prize, and must be 18 years of age by February 25, 2008, and be a licensed driver with valid operating insurance.
- Neither the On Air Sports Marketing, Roc and Manuch, Lunch with Kevin McCabe, Calling All Sports Saturdays hosts, Native New Yorker Restaurants, Right Honda, Bud Light or KDUS AM 1060 THE FAN are responsible for accidents/damage to property or person incurred while using the grand prize.
- Prizes are non-refundable and cannot be combined with any other offer.
- On Air Sports Marketing, Roc and Manuch, Lunch with Kevin McCabe, Calling All Sports Saturday’s hosts, Native New Yorker Restaurants, Right Honda, Bud Light or KDUS AM 1060 THE FAN paid staff members are not eligible to win.
- Whereas the NNY Battle of the Bone eating contest is a 10-minute and 60 second all-you-can-eat Buffalo wing eating competition.
- And whereas competitors must eat their food in a safe fashion, but in any style, with or without any condiments and with or without beverage.
- And whereas wings are measured in total weight of wing meat eaten, measured by scale in pounds and ounces by a judge.
- And whereas each competitor will begin the contest with a tin tray holding three (3) lbs of Buffalo wings.
- And whereas each competitor will also be provided with an empty tin at contest’s start which he or she will use to discard remnants of an eaten wing such as bone. And whereas these remnants of bones, etc. shall from hereto forth be know as ‘debris.’
- And whereas each competitor will begin the contest with a tin tray holding three (3) pounds of Buffalo wings. And whereas when a competitor finishes a three (3) pound tin of Buffalo wings during the contest, that competitor will be provided with a tin containing one (1) pound of Buffalo wings and upon completion of that tin, additional tins containing one pound each until the expiration of the allotted time.
- And whereas the judge will determine at contest’s end which competitors have eaten enough to merit the weighing of their food and debris.
- And whereas if a competitor objects to his or her food and debris not being weighed, the judge will weigh that competitor’s food and debris.
- And whereas the judge will then combine each competitor’s remaining food and accrued debris and weigh them on the official contest scale to determine the exact amount of wing meat eaten.
- And whereas the formula for determining the total wing meat eaten will be: Total weight of buffalo wing trays given to eater (3 pounds, 6 pounds, or 9 pounds) MINUS Total weight of remaining food and accrued debris EQUALS Total wing meat eaten.
- Whereas the formula for Marketing and Promotional elements for converting wing meat eaten to wings will be: One half (½) ounce of wing meat eaten EQUALS one buffalo wing.
- And whereas any food in a competitor’s mouth at the final whistle counts toward the final tally if the competitor chews and swallows that portion of the competitive foodstuff. But whereas competitors may not stuff food into their mouth in the final seconds of the contest to increase their total. Judges have the discretion to impose penalties on those who do so.
- And whereas competitors may squeeze or rip the wing with their hands or teeth, but may not use a machine or a utensil of any kind to chop, dice, strain or alter the wing.
- And whereas competitors may not touch the wings before the contest begins, and they may not eat or bring a wing to their mouths, and they may not in any way substantially alter the mass of a wing or dispose of any portion of a wing in any manner until the official start of the contest.
- And whereas the starting whistle may be a voice or a whistle or a buzzer or a gun (though only a blank or starting gun for reasons of safety) or a countdown or any starting signal.
- And whereas, if two competitors end in tie, having eaten the same quantity of food, judges will conduct a 60-second run-off. If there is a tie again, a double-run-off will be conducted.
- And whereas competitors will be disqualified if they dispose of food in any other way than to eat it fully. And whereas Roman method eating during or after the 10-minute contest will produce an immediate disqualification. And whereas an incident will be determined to be a Roman method incident when any portion of the competitive eating foodstuff falls to the table or to the floor or to the hand of the competitor.
- And whereas eating food prior to the starting whistle will produce an immediate disqualification.
- And whereas interfering with another competitor in any way or with his or her food in any way will produce an immediate disqualification.
- And whereas a competitor with a serious ailment or health problem may not compete in the contest, but whereas a minor ailment such as sour stomach or dyspepsia shall not disqualify a competitor.
- And whereas the judges’ count will remain final regardless of an apparent miscount or possible erratum in the tally. And whereas all decisions by judges and the head official judge are final and conclusive.
- And whereas, if any contingencies or disputes arise at a contest that are not explicitly covered in the official rules, the judge’s decision will stand with the same finality as the rules.
